Our Congregation

Through the centuries, First Church has brought the message of God's love to Native Americans, Dutch settlers, English Colonists, and Americans, both slave and free.

Today our congregation comes from near and far, from the city and from the suburbs, from rich and poor homes, from a diversity of ethnic backgrounds, and from a rich variety of vocational responsibilities.

We envision ourselves as a mission outpost.  As such, we are called to serve a world in need; are called to enter into dialogue with the community around us; we are just as much on a journey of faith as we were four centuries ago.  We seek together to be faithful disciples of Jesus and recommit ourselves to a mission of God's love in a place of deep needs and rich resources.

We are thankful for the diversity of our region and church, and believe that our wholeness is found in affirming our differences.  We are also thankful that our church is filled with hardworking officers, staff and members, who are deeply committed to our continuing mission in this place.

We invite you to join us.
