Picture
Through the Word and Holy Spirit, God gathers us into a community. As disciples of Jesus Christ we are called to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2), to encourage one another and to build up each other (1 Thessalonians 5:11), and to love each other with mutual affection (Romans 12:10).

From the goal statements

Coffee and Conversation

Sunday morning after worship people gather in Zimmerman Hall.  This is a great time for fellowship and to get to know one another.

Monday Bible Study
People get together to read and discuss a passage from the Bible. Often the passage of the Bible will be the scripture text for the following Sunday's sermon. This is an open forum; visitors are always welcome. Sept – June @ noon.

Prayer Requests
A weekly list is distributed to the consistory and others with the names of members and friends of the congregation who are hospitalized, homebound or otherwise in need of prayer. Requests can be made by contacting the church office.

Congregational Care Team
This is a group of church members who desire to reach out to members in the congregation who are homebound. Whether by phone call or visit, it is an opportunity to share Scripture and listen to concerns.

Sanctuary Flowers
Two vases of flowers decorate the sanctuary each Sunday during service. After the service these flowers are brought to members from the congregation who are in the hospital, nursing home or home bound.

Weathervanes
This social group for Seniors usually meets on the third Wednesday of the month at 12:30 P.M. for a brown bag lunch followed by various programs: speakers, travelogues, etc. and an occasional trip.

First Church Readers
A small group of people meets monthly to discuss a fiction or non-fiction book that explores different cultures throughout the world.

First Church Mother's Group
For "active" mothers of kids up to 21 years of age.  Meets monthly on Sunday's after service.

Hanging of the Greens
This is a time of fellowship to start the celebration of the Christmas holiday.  Adults and Youth decorate the sanctuary and lobby with laurel and wreaths.

Camp Fowler and Retreat Center
First Church supports Camp Fowler and Retreat Center, a Reformed Church in America camp located on LakeSacandaga. Some of our groups hold retreats at Camp Fowler. During the summer months, several church members volunteer as cabin counselors, work in the kitchen or do maintenance. Scholarships are available through First Church to allow members and neighborhood children to attend the camp during the summer.http://www.campfowler.org
